The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), however, said that out of 36 state governors in Nigeria, only five states have begun the implementation of N30,000,new minimum wage signed into law in April by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Here are the states and their governors paying the new N30,000 minimum wage:
1. Lagos - Babajide Sanwo-Olu
2. Kaduna - Malam Nasir El-Rufai
3. Kebbi - Abubakar Atiku Bagudu
4. Adamawa - Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri
5. Jigawa - Mohammed Badaru Abubakar
The labour union hinted that it would shut down the 31 other states by December 31, if they failed to conclude all negotiations on the 'consequential adjustment' and begin full implementation of the new wage.
"States which have not commenced discussion should quickly constitute a negotiating committee and expeditiously conclude discussions on salary adjustment consequenton the new national minimum wage on or before December 31"
