The United States' Senate will likely start the impeachment of President Donald Trump on Tuesday, January 21, weeks after the House of Representatives concluded its own process.
Mitch McConnell, the Senate's majority leader, spoke about the planned move on Tuesday, January 14.
"The House is likely to finally send the articles over to us tomorrow (Wednesday, January 15), and we'll be able to - we believe if that happens - in all likelihood, go through some preliminary steps here this week," McConnell said.
Trump was recently impeached by the US House of Representatives.
McConnell said currently, he is supported by 53 Republican colleagues on the best way to move forward, with the first measure being setting up arguments for the prosecution and defence.
