Traditional rulers and youths of the Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State on Wednesday, January 15, chased away herdsmen in their communities over alleged violence and destruction of their farmland by cattle.

The source said: "These herdsmen have been adamant and it was high time they left. We didn't harm them but we were surprised the way they ran away like being chases by a lion.

"They have been destroying our farms and we could no longer condone such losses again. We don't have problem with them but we dont want them and their cows in Ijare anymore."

The move by the indigenes of local government area forced the herdsmen to abandon their flock (about 100 of them) and flew for safety, The Nation reports.

The resident said that the abandoned cattle were later taken to the Palace of Olujare of Ijare, Oba Oluwagbemigun Kokotiri for safe keeping.
