VAR which means Video Assistant Referee have had its first controversial issue after Ajax fans believe Nicolas Tagliafico goal against Real Madrid was a bad decision made by the referee after consulted VAR

The Ajax should have been a goal up in the 38th minute but after a long look on the VAR by Slovenian referee Damir Skomina, the goal was ruled out. The game ended 2-1 in favour of the European champions, Real Madrid.

UEFA Champions League came out strongly to defend the decision;

"The referee identified that Tagliafico's teammate Dusan Tadic was in an offside position and interfering with goalkeeper preventing him from playing or being able to play the ball - as the header was being made," UEFA tweeted.

Some Ajax fans have given VAR new names, like;

VAR - Video Assisting RealMadrid

VAR - Victory Always for Real
