There's a popular belief and argument that Nigerian governors see the Senate as a retirement package after their second term.

The Ninth National Assembly will be getting 15 ex-governors as Senators out of 109 Senators.The list include; Orji Kalu, Theodore Orji, Kashim Shettima, Sam Egwu, Senator Danjuma Goje, Rocha Okorocha, Ibikunle Amosun, Chimaroke Nnamani, Ibrahim Shekarau, Tanko Makura, Adamu Abdullahi, Aliyu Wamakko, Ibrahim Geidam, Abdul' Aziz Yari, Adamu Aliero.

Meanwhile, two current governors, Abiola Ajimola of Oyo State and Ibrahim Dankawmbo of Gombe State lost last Saturday Senatorial election to the PDP candidates. The stand now is that APC won 62 Senators, PDP won 35 Senators and YPP got 1 Senator
