According to INEC, there's is an electoral acts which stipulates that a candidate could only withdraws from the race no less than 45 days to the date of elections, The Sun reports.

The candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) announced her decision on Thursday, January 24.

According to her, the decision was taken following calls from Nigerians and those abroad for her to do so.

Ezekwesili said she would now focus on a coalition to help defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

The disgrace of losing was better than pulling out in the dying minute. If she had lost, yes people will understand and she wouldn't be in the spot line of criticism her party would have some share. But now she will be labeled a political coward.

@cally you have a good point the shame of defeat is far better than proving to people how she cannot be trusted with a leadership role by pulling out of the race at die minute
