The NCC, according to the minister, must ensure that telecom operators block unregistered sim cards until users comply with proper registration procedures.

In line with the new directive, Nigerians whose sim cards are not registered may soon be restricted or barred from using their mobile phone numbers.

If you want to confirm whether or not your phone number is properly registered, here are the numbers to dial:

* MTN - *789*1#

* Airtel - *746#

* 9mobile - 746 or 200

* GLO - Text REG to 746 or 3456
